Each Wednesday of the State Fair of Texas, NBC 5 and Kroger invite fairgoers to bring a minimum of three (3) canned food items to the fair to receive admission for only $3 during the It’s a Fair Deal Food Drive. All of the canned food collected will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.

Truckloads of Food For NTFB Canceled As A Result of Government Shutdown

The North Texas Food Bank fears it will not be able to provide hundreds of thousands of meals for families in its service area after the week-old government shutdown has canceled 10 truckloads of USDA food and another 36 are at risk, according to a press release from the nonprofit.

Whole Foods Raises $192,720 To Help Feed North Texas' Hungry
January 25, 2013
Whole Foods Market announced Friday that it had raised $192,720 to help feed hungry residents of North Texas in its sixth annual "Giving Tree" holiday campaign. The North Texas Food Bank in Dallas said that the Austin-based natural and organic foods retailer raised $158,285 for NTFB's efforts and the money will provide 474,855 meals for North Texas residents who otherwise might go hungry.
